Professor (Hon.) Dr Mini Chakravarthini Rai

Mini joined the Space Professionals Partnership network in August 2024. Mini brings nearly 30 years of research and innovation experience. Mini is a UK Parliamentary and Scientific Committee member, with deep-rooted expertise in Robotics, Automation, Control and Systems Engineering, she has led a large and diverse portfolio of national and international programmes on Space Robotic missions, spanning orbital and planetary robotics.

Mini is at the forefront of developing disruptive future technologies for the Space industry and technology transfer to the Energy, Health, and Agri-Food sectors. Her visionary leadership and passion for building real-world solutions inspired her to launch ORL, reflecting her ingrained desire to apply her knowledge and skills in the commercial world.

 

With a proven research, innovation, and enterprise track record, Mini has established an exemplary reputation as a mover and shaker bridging industry and academia. Her extensive experience working with C-level executives, space agencies, stakeholders, investors, and regulators uniquely positions her to drive business and support a broad range of clients nationally and globally.

Since September 2024, she has been an Honorary Professor at the University of Lincoln, UK, where she previously held the esteemed position of Distinguished Professor and Global Chair in Robotic Engineering (2019-2024). Prof. Rai was an Associate Professor and Head of Robotics and Control at the Surrey Space Centre, UK (2005-2019).

Mini is currently supporting Space Professionals Partnership with a small study investigating space resource horizon scanning investigating, Cislunar, Lunar surface and Asteroid space resources.
